St. Luke's Children's and the Idaho State Liquor Division are partnering to enhance your knowledge and improve the health of Idaho's adolescents through a complimentary event! The event will offer 4.0 Continuing Medical Education (CME) and/or Part 2 Maintenance of Certification (MOC) for pediatricians.
This ½ day event is on June 6th at Boise State University from 8:00am – 12:15pm. It is for primary care teams and community partners in Idaho. The event centers on the negative impacts of adolescent alcohol and substance abuse, adolescent brain development, and tools available to help identify risk factors within the clinic setting.
Linda Chamberlain, PhD, MPH is the keynote speaker. She will discuss her work on the adolescent brain and the changes that occur during adolescence. She will highlight how these changes influence emotions, decision-making and behaviors.
Lieutenant Charles Ketchum with Idaho State Police will cover the signs and symptoms of alcohol and substance abuse. Dr. Angela Beauchaine from Primary Health Medical Group will discuss updates on the Car, Relax, Alone, Forget, Friends, Trouble (CRAFFT) tool. The CRAFFT screening tool is crucial in identifying at-risk youth and connecting them and their families to resources.
