QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred; Associate Diploma of Nursing considered if the candidate has two or more years of experience in school nursing, mental health nursing, community health nursing or emergency nursing; and
Must hold an Idaho Pupil Personnel Services Credential endorsed for School Nurse
Must hold a current Idaho Registered Nurse License
CPR Certification required
Assess, plan, evaluate and manage health services for assigned school and enter into Infinite Campus (SIS)
Assists in identifying children who may need special educational or health-related services as referred
Assesses the identified child’s sensory and physical health status, in collaboration with the child, parent(s) and health care providers when requested
Assists the team in developing an Individual Educational Plan (IEP) and 504 Plans that provide for the required health needs of the child, and supports his or her educational participation as requested
Provides in-service training for teachers and staff (including FASA) regarding the individual health needs of students
Conduct vision, hearing and health screenings as required by the State Board of Education
Adhere to laws, policies, procedures and ethical standards of the school nursing profession
Supervises FASA to provide specialized health care services in the school
Review FASA Health Office visit notes as needed
Evaluates the effectiveness of the health-related components of the IEP with the child, parent(s), and other team members and recommends revisions to the plan
Continue to grow and develop a professional knowledge of resources, special education laws, 504 regulations, abuse/neglect issues, medical technology and needs impacting adolescent health
