We are excited to announce the Idaho State Department of Education is now offering free online training to identify and respond to the warning signs of students in crisis through QPR (Question, Persuade and Refer) Gatekeeper Training for Suicide Prevention. Please read the attached press release to learn more about the Superintendent of Public Instruction Sherri Ybarra’s support for reducing Idaho’s teen suicide rate.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) includes the training on its National Registry of Evidence-Based Programs and Practices. The Suicide Prevention Resource Center describes the training as “a program with evidence of effectiveness.” The training takes an estimated hour to two hours to complete and is for adults who interact with students at home or at schools.
