National Data Collection Update

Posted over 7 years ago by Leanne Bullamore

Step & Be Counted! began in 2014 as a joint initiative between National Association of School Nurses (NASN) and National Association of State School Nurse Consultants (NASSNC) to collect uniform data in each state. The overarching goal was to utilize important population health data, to support evidence-based school nurse practice and show student outcomes. NASN and NASSNC have not been able to move forward with the goals for the memorandum of collaboration, and have announced they will terminate Step Up and Be Counted!

School Nurses are encouraged to report state data for the 2016-2017 school year, ideally by October 31st, 2017. Nurses are also encouraged to continue to collect data for the 2017-2018 school year as well. If you have any questions, please contact Alicia Jordan (ajordan@kunaschools.org).

NASN is hopeful to have opportunities to work with NASSNC on future projects and is grateful for the foundation that was set with Step Up and Be Counted!

NASN is currently working on a new initiative for collecting national data as it relates to NASN’s new Strategic Plan Goals for 2017-2020. Please stay tuned on ways you can work with NASN on this project!
